Meeting in Lekėčiai, by Portuguese students

We left school on Monday, 6th May and went to Oporto, to Sá Carneiro Airport. We travelled from Oporto to Frankfurt and then to Vilnius in Lithuania. To some of us it was the first flying experience. Dainius, the Lithuanian teacher, was waiting for us in the famous yellow van to take us to his school, where we met our hosts.

Márcia Pacheco, from the ninth grade class A, stayed at Urtè`s. “The family who received me was very welcoming and funny. Urtè lives with her parents, her grandma, her dog and her cat. They offered me a t-shirt saying “I have a friend in Lithuania”. Álvaro Poiares, from the eighth grade class B, and Ricardo Pinto, from the ninth grade class A, stayed at Vilté`s. She lives with her parents, her sister and with her dogs that are very cute and funny. We played Basketball with her dad but we weren`t strong enough so, we lost the game.On the second day, we attended some robotic lessons with Polish students. We tested several exercises with robots. Then, we went on a guided tour around the school that is small and old and has students between the ages of six and eighteen. Our second day ended with a party and we learned how to dance some Lithuanian traditional dances.

On the third day, we visited Trakai, a castle situated on a beautiful island. The place was beautiful. We had lunch in Trakai and we tasted a little bit of Lithuanian traditional food. Then, we went to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. The Lithuanian teachers guided us around the city. We saw the cathedral, the castle and some of the main streets of the historic centre. This city is quite beautiful and old.

On the fourth day, we visited Kaunas. We went to Čiurlionis Museum to see the paintings of this famous Lithuanian artist. After that, we visited the Devil`s Museum, a devilish museum where hundreds of sculptures, paintings and masks are exposed. We had sushi for lunch! During the afternoon, we visited the Ethnographic Museum of Lithuanian Traditions where we saw how people lived centuries ago.

On the fifth day, the last one, we stayed at school. During the morning, we attended robotic lessons with the Italian students. Then, we had free time to talk to other students from other countries. Finally, we went to Vilnius airport at 9:30 p.m. and we waited till 6:30 a.m. for our flight home. It was a very tough night! But it was a very good experience.
